Phil's Dream Pit is that diamond in the rough, all alone on it's exit, a treasure for those who know about it and a treat for those who find it. Phil and Dianna treat every person who walks through their door as family. All of the meats are expertly smoked and the sides are appropriate. Sauces are fantastic. Also, the restaurant is gluten friendly. Just ask which sauces and sides to avoid. Most people I've talked to about Phil's agree it's the best BBQ in the Tri-Cities.

Fast, courteous service. I had the beef brisket for lunch one day, then went back a few days later and tried the pork sandwich.Both times I was there the food and baked beans were served hot and fresh. You get generous portions. Bathrooms were clean and plenty of parking available. I'll definitely be back again soon.

The service is quick, the side dishes and the barbecue sauce is excellent.

These are some of the nicest people I met on the road. They went out of their way to make me feel at home. Their food was very good. Place with a little small but very clean. And their ribs were Juicy and tender. And you must try their hash browns.

This is the BEST BBQ in the tri-cities hands down!!! All meat is slow smoked on-site. As opposed to most BBQ restaurants in the area, Phil's has a huge variety of meats including ribs, pork wings, chicken, brisket & pulled meats. They have a great variety of BBQ sauces also. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone & everyone who likes BBQ or smoked meats!!

The best BBQ in East TN. It is so good and the staff is so friendly!

Excellent BBQ. Some of the best Memphis Rub Ribs in the area. Had a special Thai Chili 1/2 Rack sprcial that was very tasty with a sticky sweet heat.

Good food for sure! I wish the restaurant had more seating. It gets very crowded during lunch hours and there’s not enough seating.

Great bbq, pulled pork sandwich slaw and baked beans were delicious and reasonable.

This place is a gem. The best BBQ around, best sauce, n great atmosphere. I've only tried the pulled pork and Mac salad but I've been told the brisket is amazing as well. It's definitely worth stopping by and giving this amazing local owner eatery a try.

YUMmmmmm starts with the smell! Currently they are serving through a walk-up window only. But still fast & efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed the brisket meal & an extra pound of pulled pork.. Slaw, beans & cheesy mac finished a super delicious meal.

I was Phil's first Customer and now a regular. Best BBQ in the world. Worth traveling across country. First time I ever had Dry Rub Ribs. Wow!

Great BBQ and great people! I had the pulled chicken sandwich. Most other places seem to over smoke chicken but not at Phils.

We accidentally came across this place during a recent trip and what luck! The owner/cook was such an amazing chef and so friendly! He wanted us to try everything so we could really get an idea of what we wanted for our dinner. The BBQ is some of the best I've had. GO TO THIS PLACE!! You will be so glad you did!

A must-try place a little off the beaten path but well worth it. Their potato salad is second to none

This is a small town place with small town people and by that I mean some of the best people you can meet! I highly recommend the food the place and the people. I dont think anyone does bbq like they do!

Look up hours on website and it says 7pm. Went to the location and the open neon sign still on. They had people in line and they told me they are closing early. I called Phil dream pit and they answer and said hey are closing early. I drove from Bristol to get the bbq I did not tell them that. But extremely in happy with that. It was a 20 mile drive

Just had a fabulous experience at Phil's Dream Pit. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They knew exactly what was gluten free and about precautions to prevent cross contamination. The meats are all gluten free, as well as their incredible beans, potato salad, and cole slaw. The only sauce that isn't gluten free is the mustard sauce. Great food and super service in a very laid back, friendly place. We will definitely be back.

The ribs are so tender and lots of meat on the bone. The brisket was perfect. The pork sandwich was awesome; overflowing the bun. The most meat for your buck here. The staff here is wonderful. This is the go to place for the best BBQ.

Been there two days in a row it was so good!

If your looking for pork, you have come to the right place. BUT if you are open to trying brisket from here, I wouldn't recommend it to a soul. You could probably take it off the plate and wear it like a leather sandal just as Moses did. I had to part the meat with some sauce and then chew for a good while.

We had a lunch stop at Phil’s BBQ last week whilst touring around Johnson City and the Parks with my wife’s cousin who lives here. 3 of us shared a 3 meats platter with two sides and garlic bread and with 3 large soda for under $20! The pork belly and ribs were absolutely excellent! Definitely a place to visit for good food!

Good food, very friendly customer service. Located right across the street from one of my company's terminals, so yes I will be back and I do recommend this eating establishment to all conesuirs of barbecue and great dining experiences.

Phil's is da bomb! Love that slice brisket and them ribs, yum! I guess that's all they're getting I can't think of much more to say?? Get yourself to Phil's you'll love it!

Perfectly cooked BBQ, lots of great sauces, delicious baked beans and hash brown casserole! Wish I lived closer, but maybe it's good I don't!

Definitely some of the best bbq this side of Texas. A variety of house made sauces are sure to satisfy what your hankering for.

I had the 1/2 chicken meal it was great and so is their service. My friends had the brisket and they enjoyed it.

Honestly, how has this place not appeared on Food Network yet? This is one of the best BBQ places I have ever visited- for more reasons than one. The homemade sauce is DIVINE, the meat isn't smoked to perfection, and the owner is the nicest man you can encounter. It's a little bit tucked away as far as location goes, but definitely try to beat the lunch rush because the lot absolutely will fill up. If you're passing through the area, don't miss out on this locally owned treasure.

I had the pulled pork two sides and why not the banana pudding. I wasn't that hungry at the time so I got it to go. It was really great. Beans and coleslaw was very good. For sure up there with the best barbecue. Staff was very nice as well. It is out of the way at least where I was at but worth the trip. PHIL’S Dream Pit is a great littie BBQ Place to eat. The food is wonderful and the people working there are some of the best people on this Earth. The BBQ is great and the beans are the best around. My family loves eating at PHIL’S.

Good food and nice place to eat outside but overpriced for what you get.

The food and pricing was phenomenal. I was a little disappointed for such great food that my chips were a bag of Lay's. Was really hoping for chips made fresh in house.

Very good food and a great atmosphere. There are indoor tables and outdoor tables. My family and I ate outside around 5:30-6:00 PM with a nice breeze and a small rain shower. It was wonderfully refreshing! We had a variety of offerings - from a half rack of ribs to pulled pork and chicken. I certainly recommend Phil’s Dream Pit!

The ribs, brisket, baked beans, service all excellent. Pork bellies on Friday only, bummer but will be back to enjoy more. Highly recommend.

First time here, atmosphere is nice and laid back. The service was polite and prompt. I've had most BBQ in the area and this is among my favorites, could've eaten the ribs with a spoon they were so tender.

Ok well I am probably not the best person to do a review on a barbeque place outside of Memphis because I am biased. Taste can't be denied if this is the only barbeque you have been exposed to you might think this is good, but this food looked good but had no taste at all. The barbeque sauce didn't even have a well seasoned taste, the service was outstanding but the taste of the barbeque needs to be revamped.

Trust me, skip Johnson City if heading west on 26 or if going east stop before Johnson City and eat at Phil's Dream Pit. Delicious bbq. Go for the pulled pork and brisket. Won't be disappointed. Strongly recommend the hash brown casserole. Best I have had by far. Better than my staple (Cracker Barrell). Love the staff to. Will now be a designated stop on my travels of 26.

Great bbq and brisket. Do yourself a favour and skip the jalepeno cheese dog. It's NOT what you expect.

Better BBQ than Ridge Wood BBQ. Wish they served cold beers but wasn’t anything to bring down a star. Can’t wait to go back.
